Global Career Readiness
Today's employers need graduates who can communicate across cultures, work with remote teams, and turn research into action. Most students only get that experience abroad, if at all. At Girl Reports, they get it from day one, on projects with real stakes.
Our interns and fellows work alongside our staff in the US and our teachers, researchers, and students in Nepal. Their work keeps our journalism program running for adolescent girls in Lumbini, where girls learn English, computer literacy, civic engagement, and leadership by publishing their own news magazine. The result is two kinds of career readiness at once. Girls in Nepal build skills that open doors to higher education and paid work. Students here in Tampa Bay and beyond build the professional experience, global perspective, and portfolio that set them apart.
Our program is built on high-impact practices, the experiences research has linked to deeper learning, higher persistence, and stronger career outcomes:

GLOBAL LEARNING
Presenting original research at academic conferences and working alongside our team in Nepal are among the most transformative of these. Our positions are flexible, largely remote, and often credit-bearing, so students can fit them around coursework and paid work.
The program also advances the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (SDG 4), Gender Equality (SDG 5), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 8), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17). By connecting universities in Tampa Bay with schools and communities in Nepal, we prepare young people with the skills, global perspective, and leadership experience to build careers that serve their communities.
Every internship and fellowship is designed around the career readiness competencies of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), the framework universities and employers use to define what makes a graduate ready for the workforce. To see how our programs nourish these competencies, check out our Internships page.
